So I quickly have to explain this book, it is technically #4 in the Pushing the Limits series, however this novel does not have overlapping characters and plot lines as the first 3 books do. Meaning it can be read at any point as a standalone novel. 5 out of 5 Ok now that that's done; I loved this book SOOO much. I rarely give a book a 5 star rating, but this one pulled it right out of my hand. The characters were not only loveable and relatable, the plot thickened and twisted and always made me want more. (Also the Heroine is Hayley ;) Hayley is a champion kickboxer, after a tragic night, she swore she'd never set a foot in the ring again. After West Young, a boy she can't seem to forget, takes on a mixed martial arts fight in her honour - against her champion ex boyfriend, Hayley suddenly has to train West. |
This novel cannot be comprehended into any words, I sat with the book open for about 10 minutes after the last page I was so shocked at the sheer gold this book holds. McGarry perfectly details the highs, lows and hard work it takes to build true love. With flawless word building and amazing action scene description, this novel grabs you by the arms and won't let go.
The plotlines of side line characters truly thickens the personality and dark secrets behind both West and Hayley, and both characters are constantly developing the growing individually and together. This book is on the more mature side of YA, but it totally remains an action novel in all ways despite the high romance factor. It is not a boring read in any sense as it simply flows, I cannot criticize it at all.
Katie McGarry remains one of my favourite YA authors, and I'm excited to review the 3 other novels in this collection.
Absolutely lost for words.
Massively recommended !!!
